Last week, after Adam took the group through some ‘acro-balance’ and tumbling we experimented with some ’spacial awareness’ and ‘kinesthetic response’ exercises. The group responded beautifully to the exercises and worked well as a group. To finish the workshop the group separated into two ‘ensembles’ and were asked to devise a performance based on the theme ‘adolescent rebellious love’ that included; one repeated gesture, the choreography that Adam taught the group earlier in the workshop, one moment when every member of the ‘ensemble’ was connected physically to one another and one of the ‘acro-balance’ techniques taught by Adam earlier in the class. The two performances that each ‘ensemble’ came up with were very different but both equally creative and entertaining.

Tonight Adam took us through some ‘acro-balance’ exercises and introduced us to some basic dance phrases which Holly, Andy, Jess and myself found challenging but very enjoyable.
We also experimented with alternate ways of moving around the space by embodying a box with-out a lid, a lectern and a bottle filled with water. The group did a fantastic job.
Next week we will take what we have been working on and develop it further, with more narrative and character based exercises.
Jayden.

Andy, Jess and Holly seem perplexed.
